Coincidently enough, the IPCC (International Panel on Climate Change, which is a group of hundreds of climate scientists worldwide) came out with a new report today. Or at least they released the press version. I think the full version will be released in February.
A CNN article on it is here: http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/science/01/23/climate.report.ap/index.html
As a quick response though, (you probably already know this Ruthie) is that global warming is about global averages. What happens at any one particular location at one particular time isn't what global warming is about. It's about seasonal and continental and global sorts of averages. These are the kinds of things that will shift agricultural productivity belts and can impact things like frequency and duration of droughts and storm extremes.
Sorry if I'm going into too much detail on something you're not so much interested in. :-) It's what I do for a living so I can talk about it ad nauseum.
My nose is neither small nor large. It is not crooked.
I am a 47 year old mother of three (C, 19; M, 15; & S, 11).
I work hard at being a good wife, a good mother, a good friend, a good person, a good employee. I am not always successful.
I am loyal. I am stubborn.
I take things way too personally.

Palm trees with snow on them... WEIRD.
At least I'm not so worried about global warming. I was really freaking out for a few months.
Snow in the palm trees is very weird. Last time I experienced it personally was Dec. '90.
I think we still need to worry about global warming. Pantheist Mom has had some excellent posts on the topic, IIRC.
J? If you see this, what's a good link to get started?
