84
Today would have been my dad's 84th birthday.
The older my kids get, the more I feel just how much each are missing out on the other. I think my dad would have had a distinct, special relationship with each of them.
And he and I would still be pissing each other off to a certain extent. I'd be annoyed every time he laughed when my kids did something to challenge and exasperate me just as I did the same to him. Which is to say, often. And he'd he annoyed every time I voted Democrat. Which is to say, often.

Thinking of you, my dear. And a few thoughts:
a) I expect he is laughing at you still now that you have a son who's practicing on you in preparation to become a lawyer.
b) and perhaps this year even your father would have voted democratic -- who knows. even he might have been fed up.
*hugs* My grandmother is turning 84 this summer. We still get on each other's nerves like mad but we love to talk about knitting and cross stitching! She taught me all I know about french knots ;-)
A bittersweet day for you, and a very nice post. I can tell how much you miss him.
