Watching Local Races

Amid the exciting national races and statewide questions, I am also watching a state representative race not in my district.

An old college friend is running for state representative. She'd be excellent. The big paper around here endorsed her and things hopefully are in her favor.

Send some happy election vibes to CD, please. :-D

Yes! Yes, she did!

I was reading up on some sites yesterday - her opponent out-spent her by a fair bit. I think there were a couple other elements in her favor - she plans to be a full-time representative, while her opponent intended to do it only part-time while being a corporate lawyer, and her opponents was previously a part of the Romney administration (and we all know how well-like Romney is now).

huh -- sounds almost like the race in our district. we have an open seat, a woman who plans to be a full-time rep, and she ran and won against a young upstart Republican whom the Republicans had targeted for special attention. (Oh, and the Republican's father was important in his home town, so the name is known and familiar.)

The young guy got tons of financial support but otherwise had a content-free campaign. The vote was closer than I would have liked but my gal won, fortunately. And in our conservative-ish area, she ran as an open lesbian and still won. You go girl (s)!!!
